THURSDAY ART ADDITIONS...A HINT OF MINT

Sorry I'm always posting so late on Thursday! I usually end up whipping something up quickly on Wednesday night or Thursday morning and in this case Thursday afternoon-lol! The theme going on this week is mint so I decided to include a couple of things that I had that are minty and also 2 little minty things I did today-the ABC print and the butterfly collage! Hope you like...

WEDNESDAY ETSY ARTIST FINDS...A HINT OF MINT

Another round of Etsy artist finds for you. Today the selections are centered around this weeks minty theme...

SUPPORT HANDMADE!

LILY BELLA FABRICS: This busy stay at home mom of four boys LOVES being surrounded by fabric. Her husband calls her "project girl" and she says she always has some kind of creative project going on as a beautiful distraction. Etsy is well known for the artists that sell their creations but there are also thousands of suppliers who provide the materials we need to create the art we sell. Don't forget to check ETSY first for beads, yarns, fabrics, jewelry making supplies and more--before buying from a big box store!

MICHELE MAULE: I instantly loved the mixed media pieces this Portland based artist creates. Her work is colorful and simple and the subjects make me smile. She says she loves heading to the dog park on Sundays with her terrier and riding her bike around the city. Michele received a degree in Drawing, Painting, and Print Making from Portland State University in 2005 and hopes to one day make a living as full time artist. Have a look...

LITTLE BROWN PEN: This NJ shop consists of a pair of artists who love to capture the city of light from a different perspective. Their work shows Paris with pops of color against a backdrop of time-worn grays, weathered white and muted brown surfaces. I really like what they've got going on...Check them out in these places too:

SWEDE 13: Angela resides in sunny Florida along with her hubby and 3 teens. She studied journalism in college with an emphasis in the arts, but now spends her time collecting little treasures. Her passion for antiquing has inspired her to create things as well as share her finds in her Etsy shop Swede 13. Angie's shop has a beachy, vintage, shabby chic, cottage feel to it that I liked. Another thing I like about these kinds of shops is that they have an ever changing inventory mixed with one of kind creations. Stop on by for look....

TUESDAY'S PRETTY PALETTE...MINT + BEIGE

I'm always looking for inspiration. I look for it when I'm working on an art project, in my home to decorate, cooking something delicious-pretty much all the time. I've found that when I focus my interest, inspiration blooms plentifully.

I've decided to start doing a Tuesday post called Pretty Palette where I find color inspiration by extracting it from objects, photos, artwork and other things I find appealing.

Today's Pretty Palette is  Beige + Mint  inspired from the image I found over at the wonderful blog Decor8 last month or so. She takes and finds beautiful pics and has a treasure trove of inspiration on FLICKR too!

MONDAY INSPIRATIONS...A HINT OF MINT

HELLO FRIENDS!

This week I'm focusing on some minty things I like. Normally I'm not much of pastel gal but I've come to realize that this blog let's me explore lots of design styles that appeal to me but don't necessarily show up in my own home. I think alot of us are like that right? "Oh-I love that-but I can't pull it off with my stuff and I can't go buy new stuff!" There's a lot of things we don't even dare to consider.

I guess this is more of a design appreciation blog than any thing else. In the case of this weeks inspiration-I actually do have some of this color going on in our house-but it wasn't at first by choice!

When we moved into our current house last year, the main bathroom had floor to chest minty blue square tile around the entire perimeter of the room. I'm sure it's original to the house, so that makes it vintage 40's but not in a cool way!

Anyways-I went with the beige + minty blue combo in there and it's kind-of OK for now. Is it my dream bath-certainly not! However when I look around for design and decorating inspiration for this color palette, I've found that I kind of like a hint of mint here and there and have incorporated it elsewhere in our house....

ETSY ARTIST FINDS...EASTER STUFF

LAST POST TIL MONDAY...
This week was all about Easter stuff. While wandering around Etsy I was sorry I didn't do Easter stuff last week so you could have time to purchase things from these shops for your baskets and gifts! Keep these artisans in mind for other occasions too-like the fudge from Jewel of the Lion-yum!

Hope you like...and remember...SUPPORT HANDMADE!

JEWEL OF THE LION- This Las Vegas shop is chock full of tasty treats! I had to call my husband in to check this one out and he said, "I'm actually drooling!" This sweet shop has some wonderful combos like Neapolitan fudge squares, Key-lime fudge w/ graham cracker crust and Grasshopper Pie  fudge w/ oreo crust-now I'm drooling! Keep her in mind for your next special occasion too-uhhh Mother's Day is right around the corner--hint hint-

AMBER ALEXANDER: This Vermont native loves animals and it shows in her work! Many of her watercolor depictions are of animals doing human-like things such as reading and snuggling their babies with a pretty dress on! Her dreamy watercolors just stole my heart and you're sure to love them too! I really connected with her bio-she said that she had always been artistic, drawing dolls and animals from Beatrix Potter with clothes on! lol-But says it took years for her to find her voice and that Etsy was a vehicle for that process! Amen to that! She also blogs about her studio experiences here Check her shop out-she has LOTS more than just bunnies!

BROWN PAPER BAG ART (NAOKO STOOP)-This Brooklyn, NY artist creates the sweetest little things, all on-what else-brown paper bags! Her work is a mix of painting, collage and illustration, factor in the texture of the paper, and it makes for a wonderful effect! Naoko is an illustrator and the Brown Paper Bag collection is just one of her styles. This is an Etsy fave of mine-but check out her other ETSY shop---NAOKO STOOP  and  website for more of her work...www.brownpaperbagcollection.com

TUESDAY ANYTHING GOES..EASTER STUFF

Well as stated yesterday-I won't be posting on Thursday or Friday this week so I'm packing the things I would normally post on those days into my Monday and Tuesday posts! Today I'm posting some cute Easter children's books I found on Amazon.com. I bought a few of these for the kids to have in their Easter baskets.I finally picked up all their candy today and I'm just needing a few more things!
My boys are 4 and 1-I just love watching my oldest get so excited about the Easter bunny and learning about Jesus and the baby just toddles around after him like "what am I supposed to do brother?"

I'm looking forward to a weekend filled with family, kids, yummy food and lots of playing!

I'm also posting a pretty DIY wreath with a link to the directions, a pretty spring girl pic and some digital art.

Hope you like...
